Let the Madness begin!

We’re taking a ride with drifting superstar Mike Whiddett, known to millions as ‘Mad Mike’.

Whiddett, an international champion and gifted athlete, has won championship titles from all four corners of the globe and is the complete embodiment of Mazda’s challenger spirit. 

Truly fanatical about Mazda, Mike currently pilots the RADBUL MX-5, MADBUL RX-7 and BADBUL RX-8, all of which have earned cult status of their own. Fully customised from the ground up, they have been voted the world’s best looking drift cars.

Mazda New Zealand played an integral part in helping Whiddett realise his dream of turning the Mazda MX-5 into the third drift car in the Mad Mike Motorsport garage. RADBUL MX-5 was derived from Mazda’s short wheelbase roadster platform, and is debatably the craziest pro spec drift car ever built. Now all three custom vehicles compete in the Formula Drift World Championship (held through USA, Japan, Asia and Australasia).

When Mad Mike is not drifting around the world he is based in Auckland, where Mazda like to keep him zooming in a BT-50 – with the Mad Mike treatment of course.
